The Hooded Guru is the music production company created by Arun Deshpande, serving as an umbrella for his diverse range of musical and other creative projects.
Born in Wales, UK and now based in South Africa, Arun has been performing and creating music for over 30 years, taking his talents to stages around the world.
Arun’s musical style and influences cover a vast spectrum from folk to rock, gypsy jazz as well as piano instrumentals and transformational meditation tracks.
As a guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, he infuses each project with a passion and dynamic energy which reflects his deep love for music, life and spirituality. He enjoys writing and performing a wide range of music, including original songs and instrumental pieces, as well as covers.
He also collaborates with other talented artists, such as his guitar duet, The Gypsy Bar Stewards (with Mick Bold) in London, UK, Benny and the Mexican (with Elaine Boshoff) in South Africa and his collaboration with the Stadio student choir in Midrand, South Africa.
Arun’s gigs are an opportunity to experience his deep love of music in a live setting, whether it’s intimate, heartfelt songwriter vibes or weekend party singalongs.
He performs in Pretoria on the last Thursday of every month from 7pm at Square Time Restaurant, Boardwalk, Faerie Glen.
